Animals and Fast Food
What is it? There is no shortage of meat for human consumption. Fast food restaurants and grocery
stores are filled with options.
In fact, in 2010 Americans consumed over 92 billion pounds of meat. With this huge demand it would seem there would be family farms everywhere. Yet, with the exception of a few grazing cows, most children today have never seen where their meat originates because 99% of meat in America is produced in cruel, unsustainable factory farms.
We don't see farm animals because to increase profits and production animals are warehoused in buildings and confined to tiny, stacked cages. Cows are sent to "process" in manure saturated, over-crowded feed lots. These genetically engineered animals spend their life subsisting on poor quality fed, antibiotics, and growth hormones.
