What are PWYC restaurants?
Pay What You Can (PWYC) Restaurants are community-based and generally non-profits. Often the staff is supported by volunteers and sometimes job training is provided to volunteers. PWYC Restaurants allow customers to pay as much as they are able for food, allowing people of all income levels to eat healthy, nourishing meals. The purpose of these cafés is to reduce hunger, build relationships, preserve dignity, celebrate community action, promote sustainability, and fill a basic need by providing a nutritious meal even if a person is facing economic challenges.
