Here's some facts about the Environment and Fast Food.
There are 17 BILLION livestock in the world - three times the number of people.
In California it takes 2,464 gallons of water to produce just 1 pound of beef - It only takes 29 gallons of water to produce a pound of tomatoes.
Every second the equivalent of a football field of rainforest is destroyed, much of it to make room for fast food cattle to graze.
To make a quarter pound of beef 55 square feet of rain forest must be cut down.
Tens of Millions of tons of methane and 80% percent of the ammonia released into our atmosphere is the byproduct of animal digestion and animal waste, which are a major source of global warming.
North America has already lost one-third of its topsoil due to overgrazing and unsustainable methods of producing feed crop for livestock.
Is There an Alternative? YES!
- REDUCE OR ELIMINATE your beef and meat consumption;
- REPLACE the beef in your diet with organic vegetables, grains and fruits;
- BUY FAMILY FARM PRODUCTS which are organically and humanely raised;
- EDUCATE yourself, your friends and your community about these issues
- JOIN the growing number of vegetarians in your community.
